Brining follies back from the dead, AWP-HHF to design French park

In 18th Century Europe, the rich brought the wonders of the world to their extensive gardens with follies. These buildings made to replicate just about everything from Egyptian pyramids to Chinese temples served as décor and places to unwind. Now a partnership of French and Swiss architects, AWP-HHF, have won a contract to convert 20,450 square feet of land by the Seine outside Paris into a public park, and will use these follies as outlooks, newsstands, stalls and park storage. Also, the designers have chosen not to replicate structures around the globe for the designing of these follies, instead giving them a more practical sculpt, making them a useful addition to public space, specifically parks.
