Cluttered wires and cables will soon find themselves a spot in museums as wireless technology takes over. While contemporary wireless technology is developing at a steady and promising pace, the folks at Disney Research decided to take a leap ahead with the Ishin-Den-Shin project, one that has left us stunned. Developed by Olivier Bau, Ivan Poupyrev, and Yuri Suzuki, the newly developed project literally allows users to speak into a microphone and have the sound travel as electricity to one’s body. To transmit the sound, the user then needs to touch a finger to the receiving user’s ear, enabling the person to hear with touch!
Disney has simply turned the human body into an electrostatic speaker, enabling this extremely brilliant concept to work. Simple, futuristic and downright awesome, the Ishin-Den-Shin could find several applications for use in future!
