Let’s not deny it, we’ve all looked for hideouts in our respective educational institutions, to block ourselves away from all the academic noise outside. Design firm UTAA and architecture students Lee Sang-myeong, Ha Ki-seong, Baek Jong-ho gave the University of Seoul its own hideout, retrofitted from a first-floor parking lot/carport in a dormitory building on campus. Cozy and well ventilated, this is a refreshing addition to a dingy old area that was once used as a vice-spot.
The new hangout sports curved wooden panels that are a treat to the eye, as well as lightweight and warm-colored organic materials and nature-inspired shapes. Lit by artificial and natural light, the hangout was crafted from 500 pieces of engineered wood called glulam.
