Bus stations more often than not are designed for their utility, more than their looks. However, this bus station design that could soon find a home in India is a step apart from the rest. Designed for the city of Vadodara in the state of Gujarat, this bus station sports a façade that resembles a melting structure. While the building itself may seem like it’s about to turn into a puddle of liquid, the designers have made the structure quite steady, packing it with contemporary and modernistic insides.
The Vadodara Central Bus Station will also play home to shopping areas, where commuters can quickly pick up all that they need before boarding a bus, restaurants and open spaces to lounge and relax. Complete with multi-level escalators to ease movement, an indoor street-market and a mall-like grand entrance, this bus station will be the State of Gujarat’s crown jewel.
