ROCKCRYSTAL: An elegant wristwatch which is basic and bare

ROCKCRYSTAL-wristwatch.jpg These days, the image of a wristwatch has taken many forms and notions; wherein some are futuristic and others are flashy. None that attempt to keep the basic function of the watch intact. Designer Sabastian Krabbe, who is utterly touched by the natural and cultural treasures of the Alps, has designed a minimalistic watch that is a just combination of earthy as well as urban. The watch’s dial is composed of stainless steel and is polygonal-shaped to remind of a naturally grown crystal. Its stainless steel face is etched with marks that signify twelve, three, six and nine.

Stretch H2O: The hand shower for the athlete

Stretch-H2O-1.jpg Earlier, Delta had some glitches while incorporating new hydro dynamic technology into their shower handles. Now they have overcome that and come out with a brand new Stretch H2O hand shower, courtesy: William Mecker. The Stretch H2O hand shower has a dynamic angle that synergizes with the structure of the human body, particularly useful for an athlete. The perfect athletes who can’t keep themselves from stretch and turning, can do their thing with the brilliant Stretch H2O hand shower.

Pedestrian Bridge constructed in France as a symbol of contemporary urban relationships

Pedestrian-Bridge.jpg We have massive structures being built everyday, but very few of them have revolutionary social significance as the Pedestrian Bridge constructed by American architect Bernard Tschumi and French firm Hugh Dutton Associes. The bridge has opened in La Roche-sur-Yon in France, where it connects the old centre of Atlantic coast town with newer districts across the TGV railway tracks. The massive tubular lattice bridge is a collaboration between the fields of engineering and architecture, and expresses a dynamic vector in both its usage and urban perception. The Pedestrian bridge crosses above high-speed railway tracks, providing an important urban connection for the two. The dynamic characteristics of the complicated structure are expressed through finished materials and the bright-red orange color is chosen to emphasize the urban significance of the bridge as a pedestrian vector.

Mr & Mrs Tea set represents the perfect family

Mr-&-Mrs-Tea-set.jpg Tea-time is the perfect time for some chit-chatting and family bonding. We are all proud of our families and would always like to have their love and support all our lives. Here a set of three pots that has of mum and dad looking at the kid as he’s the apple of their eyes. The shoe lace and corset are reminiscent of mum and dad and the kid is nude as is in all artifacts that suggest a family. However, I’m of the opinion that this pattern would have done even better had it been framed on Teacups.

Picasso inspired Coffee maker

Coffee-Maker.jpg Here’s a coffee maker that’s named after an artist. This yellow and red coffee maker is shaped like a weird birdie and I’m wondering how it is inspired by a famous artist, that too Picasso! Going by its description, it is an Alias Model and Hypershot render.

Parallel World project is for the folks who loathe perfection

Parallel-World-project.jpg Here’s an interesting design concept by Dzimitry Samal called Parallel Worlds, inspired by the concept of parallel worlds existing in our universe. The collection consists of various elements like bookshelf, lamp etc, that are attached haphazardly to the walls using an anchoring system. The objects’ hidden parts (the parts in the wall) are somewhere in the parallel world that we do not see. But I have a different take on this concept; to me it looks like a collection of elements that would appeal to the perfect imperfectionist. Like a guy who doesn’t like the mess in his room to be sorted by anyone. If you want to take a closer look, be there in Milan from April 14th-April 19th where the project will be launched in Milan Design Week.

Lufthansa Espresso Machine: What say?

Lufthansa-Espresso-Machine2.jpg Lufthansa, the German premium airline stands for clarity, simplicity, safety and reliability. Lufthansa’s own design idea of retrofuturism is combining clear, cubic forms with high value materials. This Lufthansa Espresso coffee machine is designed to fit into the airline’s perfectly defined design standards. The airline’s presence is easily distinguished with that unmistakable yellow and white color combination, which is no less than suave. Good job Mucha!

Futuristic Bicycle Design is hot in red

Futuristic_Bicycle.jpg These days, a lot of designers are coming up with innovative designs in bikes and they seem to be getting better with each new invention. The futuristic bicycle design here is similar to the hubless BMX concept posted last month, but you and I, both can bet that this red hot version is superior when it comes to design standards. The designer has managed to design something so dashing with the aid of lighter and malleable materials that makes framing and structuring easier.

Waterpebble saves water by reducing your shower time

Waterpebble.jpg Everybody knows that water is in short supply in many parts of the world, but very few designers go out and design concepts that attempt to save water resource. Here’s a design concept by Paul Priestman, a director of a design company Priestmangoode it is called Waterpebble. Waterpebble is a clever design that saves water by monitoring the water going down the plughole when you take a shower. Waterpebble memorizes your first shower and uses it as a benchmark for cautioning you about excess usage in the future. Each time you shower, Waterpebble indicates via a series of traffic lights, flashing gently from green through red as tells you when to finish showering.

The ‘O’ kitchen with ultra-futuristic features

O-kitchen1.jpg I’ve seen some pretty futuristic kitchen concepts alright, but none as revolutionary as the ‘o’ kitchen. Once I launch the list of its high-tech gizmoz, you’d want me to stop, because its too much to believe! I’ll shoot anyways. The spherical kitchen concept hosts a microwave, electric oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, stovetop range, exhaust hood, LED lighting, touch screen control panel with online access and MP3 functions, a DVD player, sink, digital cookbook system, kitchen management software, built-in audio speakers, storage galore, garbage disposal, fire alert system and a remote control access system. Now I know why they have named this kitchen as ‘O’ kitchen, because your mouth conforms to a perfect O when you see it!

Infinity Bath combines technology and sensual indulgence

bath-infinity.jpg After a stressful day, the bathtub naturally becomes the first if not the last resort for an individual, where one can recline and relax wholeheartedly. But that can happen only when the bathtub can be so engaging in all respects. The Infinity Bath by designer Aleksander Mukomelov combines high design, technology and a complete sensory experience for the user so as to keep him immersed in the bathtub for eternity. Infinity provides full sensation on all organs of the human senses, i.e. through scents, music, touch and visual images. This is achieved through the mini-computer mounted on the side panel and a remote control that can be used to adjust the water-temperature, feed rate, modes of hydro-massage jets, select music, preferred oil for aromatherapy and such.

Bobble reusable water bottle with filter by Karim Rashid

Bobble-karim-rashid-1.jpg Industrial designer Karim Rashid is popular for his wacky and mind-blowing designs, but the fact he could churn out ecological designs with consideration for the environment, is a revelation for us. Karim Rashid has collaborated with Move Collectible, LLC to introduce the Bobble Water Bottle that filters tap water as the user drinks it. Bobble is fitted with a replaceable carbon filter that removes chlorine and organic contaminants from municipal tap water. A single Bobble filter equates to at least 300 water bottles, which means that it could save us a lot of money. This is a wonderful design concept that could trim down landfills and contribute to the wellness of the ecology. The Bobble bottle could come in handy for a journalist traversing remote territories, where water is in acute scarcity.

TokyoFlash E-Paper Timing watch: Read between the lines

tokyoflash-epaper-timing-watch.jpg When it comes to fast-forward and weird digital watches, nobody can compete TokyoFlash because it’s just what the youth need. Once again, TokyoFlash has come up with a new concept watch design that uses e-paper to show the time in negative space. But I do have to tell you that it takes some getting used to as you have to see the time by looking for the digital numbers between the dark dots. The watch boasts of a Bluetooth connectivity that vibrates and alerts you about messages and call notifications. This concept is similar to the Double Time Watch concept with Bluetooth receiver, but TokyoFlash scores an extra point for integrating both the units into the watch.

Cellphone device converts lip movements to voice on the other end

lip_movements_to_voice.jpg Here’s a futuristic device that you may be using in the next 5 to 10 years time. A new technology introduced at the CeBIT fair aims to transform lip movements into a computer generated voice for the listener on the other end of the cellphone. The device was developed by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and uses Electromyography to monitor tiny muscular movements that occur when speaking and then converts them into electrical pulses that can be turned into speech. The technology currently uses electrodes that are glued to the skin, but in the future, such electrodes could be incorporated into the cellphone. The technology is particularly viable for those who have lost their voice due to illness or accident, or passing on confidential information without anyone eavesdropping.
