The usual chrome orb belies the fact that is a camera and not some showpiece; The Smart Camera is an intelligent piece of equipment that has the capability to shoot previously chosen targets. Fitted with sound and motion detectors, the camera finds and then shoots still or videos of the target. To brief the camera about the target, one has to hook it up to a comp (via USB) and import a picture from it to the camera. The camera then triggers off whenever the chosen picture (or sound) comes within perspective. In the “free roam” mode, the camera scans the environment and reacts on any movement or noise. The motion and audio sensors can be modified so that the camera captures every bit of sound.

Immersive may not even be a word, but if this concept of a gaming pod comes to reality; it will revolutionize the whole industry. Imagine walking right into the middle of a game, becoming a part of it…something like what happened in Spy Kids. This spherical pod takes you inside its belly and treats you to pure sound and visuals that you will forget every other console. The 3-D effects offer a whole new experience, and for your information, this concept inspired the movie Minority Report. The realistic motion in the dome is achieved with the help of the tracking sensors embedded in the Cocoon. It tracks all you movements and responds accordingly, the seating inside the capsule is in accordance to the users needs.

Laptops are meant to be portable, but many of us have ours transfixed to our workstations all the time. Maybe out of sheer laziness or not finding it necessary to lug our pieces, this portable creature has become a permanent fixture instead. However designer Johannes Holl envisages the future as a hectic schedule for busy execs who will require hauling their lappies all around town. Even the time spent in commute will be filled with you working on the comp. Actually that’s not such a far-fetched idea; I can picture myself blogging on the go whilst stuck in major traffic jams!

There are no specs on this beautiful timepiece, but that doesn’t deter me on writing about it. Clearly this Pink Panther Watch is encrusted with beautiful baguettes of diamonds on the frame. The unique oval shape looks trendy and Julien Soret for Virtual Ideas has designed it. Take a look at a couple of more pictures after the jump.

An architect’s dream is to build a community that thrives on the essence of space and can still communicate and interact with other members of the society. People living in ultra modern setups, have notions of exclusivity and connectivity with the environment that surrounds them. Unfortunately, such expansive housings can be experienced only in rural locations, because urban housings only have one way to grow that is upwards. The Vertical Surface Communities designed by Jan Lim takes on the challenges of urban housing in the Asian continent where space is at a premium that most commoners cannot afford.

To sum it all up Vitalia is a friendly machine that “feels” like you, arouses emotions, helps you learn and has many facets. Essentially I have just strung together German designer Ellen Herzog’s description for this wonderful light concept, that blooms like a flower when the optimum conditions are available for a child to do concentrated work like studies. A conducive environment is always beneficial for learning, and no one knows it better that a mother like me, who has to struggle with the kids to sit down for a session of serious studies. Even in classrooms, teachers are always at on their toes, coping with the lack of efforts by indifferent children. The Vitalia shows the pupils whether air and light quality surrounding them are conducive enough for work.

Just because you live in a squished-up apartment of have a cubbyhole for an office, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy the space in Avant Gard style. The modular furniture by Japanese company Atelier OPA is not only unique but also fun. The Kenchikukagu series includes collapsible beds, kitchens, office desks and more. Expand the whole unit when you need to use it and collapse it when you want to store it. Thankfully, this concept has taken to the production line and is available at Amazon Japan for JPY 800,000(about $7436 US).

Designer Seok won Hong has a clever piece of concept on his hands. Imagine personal multimedia mobile phone that can be used with other BRIX phones to build up a bigger screen. BRIX is designed with bricks having 1:2 rates and can be combined with several BRIXs. The basic purpose is to get together as many BRIX as possible and have grand viewing of your fav games and movies when on the go. Navigating the menu is also pretty simple as the information screen is on the top of the Main screen and Remote control screen can be combined with Main screen.

The bend in lamp makes you think you are holding a jug-handle without the jug, but in reality it’s a lamp that sticks onto most metallic surfaces. Like magic-tricks that enthralled as kids, the Magnetic Lamp takes inspiration from the Attraction-properties of a magnet. Designed on the lines of a horseshoe magnet, the lamp is fashioned U, with rubber tips at both the ends. Composed of two sections, the rubber tips and the lamp, designer Seokmoon Woo conceals the magnets in the rubber end. When you place the tips onto a metallic surface, the magnets latch-on to the surface plus trigger off the internal switch, which turns on the lamp.

If you do have a sense of humor and maybe want to show it off to you colleagues or friends, then you may want to get one of these chiseled butts, Him & Her chair by designer Fabio Novembre. It employs a pretty basic concept that highlights the posterior of the human anatomy with much aplomb. This gender based set looks quirky enough fit into my abode, but I wonder how many of us would dare sit on them. Ample buttocks aside, the more I think of it, the more I like the idea of picturing Brad Pitt on one of these, (guys can fantasize Angelina on the other one!).
