• vibrating gloves direct customers around supermarkets using force feedback

  • Soon, those pesky and unhelpful boards set up in supermarkets that are supposed to direct you to your aisle but simply don’t, could turn obsolete. Instead, retailers in future could make use of gloves that use vibration feedback to direct you to your destination. Developed by the researchers at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, these gloves could make getting around supermarkets, parking lots, warehouses and libraries easier. Made from vibrotactile actuators, a Microsoft Kinect sensor and using a dynamic guidance algorithm, these intelligent gloves literally lead you by hand to your destination!
