Radiate heat while sitting on your chair
I know winter is upon us and maybe most of you have brought out the woolies. However nothing can beat the feeling of sitting in front of a cozy, crackling fire and warming your hands. Modern day norms demand that we fit a radiator into our home rather than use fireplaces. Believe it or not, Thermet is a radiator that has been inspired by the shape of a Thonet Vienna Cafè Chair #18. I am totally sold on this concept because designer Stefano Marchetto has brought about the dual-utility factor to the design. You use a radiator only in the winter months and the rest of the time it's lying useless…with the Thermet, you can use the chair part all year round!
Stefano Marchetto desicribes the project as, "Thermet is a radiator with a shape of a Thonet Vienna Cafè Chair #18: this is easy to do because that chair was made almost exclusively of cylindrical bent beech wood pieces. In the project, wood pieces are replaced with stainless steel bent tubes. In this way the radiator it is no more an object that has an usefulness only 5-6 months on a year, but becomes useful every day of the year. The product indeed has 2 possibilities of use: as a radiator and as a real chair. When it is used as a radiator, it can be a place where to quickly get warm: just seat over it and wait for a few minutes…"
