Boomerang Desk makes its way back

Boomerang-Desk.jpg
I'm really impressed with the Boomerang Desk that was first released at the end of 1960's and designed by French artist MAurice Calka. This original fiberglass desk has made its way back with a limited edition of 35 piece. A little unknown fact is that French President Georges Pompidou was the proud owner of a white boomerang in the Elysée Palace. Serge Calka has made a re-edition possible and it is now manufactured by Singaporian furniture company Office Planner. This iconic desk is pretty useful for storage and with a lot of style. The orange seen is pictures gives it a funky edge.

Computer mouse by Hao Huang is made for left and right handed users

Computer_mouse.jpg Designer Hao Huang brings us a mouse concept that removes the extravagant casing of a regular mouse presenting a minimal, though revolutionary, design for the ease of use as well as transportation. It has two buttons for right or left click and when they are not in use, they can be attached to each other with magnetic force. This button mouse functions wirelessly as it comes integrated with signal emitter & storage battery that transmits power to the buttons. It lies parallel on the desktop on off mode and needs to be pressed simultaneously for scrolling making it ideal for left and right handed users. Only time will tell the mouse's comfort. Till then, we can only hope.

Sony's Alpha Micro Four Thirds Fighter is gorgeous

Sony_Alpha_Micro_Four_Thirds_Fighter.jpg It seems that Sony is about to revolutionize photography again or at least try to. The next goal is to bring to us the Alpha Micro Four Thirds Fighter tiny camera that promises DSLR quality. It's still a concept camera but on paper it features an interchangeable lens digital camera system that packs the quality of a DSLR camera in an extraordinarily small body, along with interchangeable lenses (this would be the micro four thirds play). It is a mid range camera for advanced users. It also has a prototype of a Super Telephoto Lens (500mm F4 G) with class-leading optical performance. It wil also feature a new Carl Zeiss wide angle lens for superior shots of landscapes and sweeping vistas. All you photography buffs must be dying to get your hands on this, so let's hope it comes out soon enough. It looks like a complete beauty.

I hope this hits the market soon.

Mirror ironing board closet doubles as a lamp

Mirror-ironing-board.jpg Konzept Design has developed, the “Mirror ironing board closet” and it is the brain child of Nils Wodzak. It's extremely convenient for those who do their laundry at home. It's a complete package that includes all your ironing equipments, including iron, board and spray bottle, into a small closet that doubles as a mirror and triples as a lamp to illuminate your room. What more can you ask for? All one has to do is open the mirror cum ironing board, plug in the iron. Then you can simply hide it all behind the mirror once again. No mess at all. Where there isn't enough space and the house is modern, this will fit right in.

Egg and Shell bowl are made for egg lovers

Eggbowl.jpg This one goes out to all the egg lovers out there. The egg bowl with a shell bowl is a concept that also allows interaction to happen between the user and the preparation of eggs. The egg bowl has a beveled edge that helps in cracking the egg and it is made out of porcelain. Both the bowls symbolize the symbiotic relationship between the egg and shape. Honestly, more than anything it really appeals to the eye.

The Smartfish concept aircraft will zoom around in air soon

Smartfish_concept_aircraft.jpg The Smartfish is a pretty cool aircraft that has been brought forward by a German company. Apparently a prototype of the remote control version of the aircraft is being discussed currently. This will be made from kevlar and carbon fiber. Despite the high quality material being used, the engineers expect the cost of building to be quite low. It is expected to be a ducted fan, two seater craft, capable of just under Mach 1. It'll be cool seeing this baby whizz around in the air. I hope people don't mistake it for being a UFO.

"Nevroz" by Yann Lestrat has lots of meditative value

Nevroz.jpg "Nevroz" designed by French artist Yann Lestrat for Belgian manufacturer Tamawa looks fun. They make all their products from the Bakelite spheres inspired by the vocabulary of colored balls used in the Eames Hang-It-All coat rack. There is lots of meditative and calming value in this piece as one tries to hold the sphere perfectly still, or balancing it just so on a tabletop. It's a round (Bakelite) bead embedded with a bubble chamber and a circular mark. I think people who are stressed out might want to try this to increase their focus. Apparently it symbolizes "psychic, individual and collective balance."

Bullit Cargo Bike is full of style

Bullit_Cargo_Bike.jpg If you are into cycling at all, there's a good chance you will fall in love with the Bullit Cargo Bike from Larry VS Harry. There are 13 different versions that all have the same slender frame and style, but the similarities end there. The faces of Albert Einstein, Steve McQueen, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro or Burt Reynolds are featured on the cycle giving it lots of panache. The bikes are fit for professionals and hobbyists.

Muuto Cat Dome brings together kitties and goldfish

Muuto_Cat_Dome.jpg Cats and goldfish aren't meant to get along. This is the very theme of so many cartoons. However, the Muuto Cat Dome might put an end to that. It is a habitat for your pet cat and goldfish to interact with each other. So maybe their animosity will turn into friendship. Although I highly doubt the cat can resist its urge to gobble up the goldfish. There's no doubt that the cat will enjoy being in such close quarters with the fish though, but I think think the fish will have continuous mini heart attacks. Either way, it's some quality entertainment for the owner.

Store your chocolate optimally with the Choc Fridge

Choc-Fridge.jpg The concept of a Choc Fridge is nothing short of heaven for cocoa lovers. It is based on innovative peltier refrigeration technology and it offers a place where you can keep your chocolates with its actual taste and freshness. Your chocolates can breathe safely now. You will find that the interior features a temperature of only 20 degrees and contains a LCD on its outer surface that shows the current temperature as a measure to minimize power consumption. It's very compact making it ideal for all kinds of spaces.

'Blob VB3' by architectural firm dmvA looks fun and functional

Blob_VB3_1.jpg I quite hate the idea of mobile homes. Everything is so cramped up and you can never be fully comfortable. But I must admit that 'Blob VB3' by architectural firm dmvA is pretty cool. It's designed as a mobile unit for the office of Xfactoragencies as an extension to the 'house'. It resembles a massive space-egg and includes a bathroom, kitchen, lighting, a bed and several niches for storage. The nose of this blob opens automatically and it doubles as a porch. Apparently, it's very easy to manoeuvre around. Take a look at the pictures, it certainly packs a punch.

Clockwork Love by Tjep. represents many emotions

Clockwork_Love.jpg You must check out the work of Dutch designers Tjep. who are exhibiting a collection of jewellery comprising overlapping symbols at Gallery Ra in Amsterdam. I'm not sure if this is an early celebration of Valentine's Day, but the artwork is called Clockwork Love. The collection includes six designs each representing a different emotion. It is very detailed and features a great multitude of graphic elements in a multitude of layers. It kind of feels like it represents the many complicated shades and layers of love. The themes covered here by the pendants are fragility, passion, uncertainty and desire.

"Shigenobu Twilight" fragrance is gorgeous wooden bottles

Shigenobu_Twilight_fragrance.jpg I'm a big fan of these cedar bottles that are hand cut and hold the "Shigenobu Twilight" fragrance. It's the result of artist Anicka Yi and architect Maggie Peng teaming up. A glass bottle is hidden within the beautiful wooden sculptures. It contains the fragrance that features "violet leaf and nutty heart notes, and top notes of yuzu, shiso leaf, and black pepper". I can almost smell the base note of cedar. This would have been a nice Christmas gift.

iPhone 4G in the works

iPhone-4G.jpg The iPhone is still selling like hot cakes, but there have been no more exciting updates lately that I know of. So that kind of kills the excitement. But hold on as there might just be an iPhone 4G in the works. It's nothing official, but this concept has been put forth. The phone is just as sleek and hot if we are to go by the designs seen. I won't say much yet, we'll wait for a little more information.
