Barbwired is a unique concept by artist Ewelina Aleksandrowicz. The Barbwired is a concept sound performance piece that uses the “energy” exchange between two individuals to create a unique, dynamic aural experience. The concept consists of two wearable hi-tech garments stitched with FSRs (force sensitive resistors) and patches of conductive thread. The garments function as wearable instruments. On physical contact between the two individuals the energy created is converted into sound vibrations. The couple needs to be in physical contact touching the conductive thread patches on their partner’s garment. Sounds are controlled and transformed by squeezing the partner’s arms, depressing the sensors while the FSR’s manipulate the effects of the sound. The intensity of the sound will vary according to how tightly or loosely you squeeze the partner’s arms.
