Living in just 23 square meters of space, Paul Coudamy’s designs
Space crunches are everywhere, parking lots, homes, office spaces and just everywhere we turn our heads. Paul Coudamy has come up with a way to live, that takes a seriously low amount of space. The interior designer designed this living space that takes up just 23 square meters. It includes a bathroom, a bedroom, place to work and a dresser too! With moving and mobile parts like the bookshelf, this one tucks in all these spaces neatly. And for its aesthetic appeal, it uses a red carmine gloss finish contrasted with white walls. Two way mirrors control the visibility of the hidden spaces with a little help from the lighting. A two way mirror above the basin lets you decide the intimacy between the bathing area and the rest of the living space. 'Garden Tools - Form / Function Research” by Itay Laniado
Union Panorama bench: Contemporary seating by Jangir Maddadi
I love to look at the new contemporary furniture designs that keep popping up in the markets every now and then. So when I came across the Union Panorama, I was seriously taken aback. Here is furniture piece that is both contemporary and classy at the same time. The Union Panorama bench is the latest addition to the Jangir Maddadi Union Bench Collection. A versatile bench that can seat up to 12 people, the Union Panorama makes use of the organic Jangir Maddadi spheres in its design. What is more it incorporates two tables as well, allowing its usability to be extended beyond the home and to the office spaces as well. The Obsideon provides for a comfortable waiting time at airports
Waiting at an airport for your ever-delayed flight won’t probably be an experience you dread anymore, stuck in those crummy seats between your fellow passengers at the waiting bay. Designer Roger Kellenberger has kept in mind economy class travelers, who spend hours waiting between connecting flights at airports and are subjected to noise, crowd and loads of discomfort. The Obsideon as he chooses to call it, makes waiting a lot more comfortable. A personal relaxation room of sorts, the Obsideon enables a user to kennel up inside, and shut himself away from the noise outside, and probably rest in peace and solace. The Obsideon is equipped with a OLED display that operates as light source and information advice. Studio Weave designs the Longest Bench
The seafront at Littlehampton in the UK is now home to the longest bench in UK. Designed and installed by designers Studio Weave, this bench christened, the Longest Bench, stretches over 324 meters in length and can seat up to 300 people. The bench opened to the public on 30th July 2010. Made of reclaimed tropical hardwood, salvaged from landfill and old seaside groynes, with colorful stainless steel bars inserted wherever the form twists, bends or dips, this bench is an aesthetic delight. There are two bronze shelters that surround the more frenzied loops in the structure and enclose views towards and away from the sea. The project was completed through £450,000 ($716,740) grant from the Sea Change Programme run by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) as well as a generous a generous private donation of £100,000 ($159,300) was also made by Gordon Roddick in memory of his late wife Anita. What is more, on close inspection you will notice that over 200 of the timber slats have been engraved with personal messages of dedication by local residents and businesses. Seat yourself and be entertained with the Gadget Chair
What’s red and has so much technology, that even E.T. wouldn’t dream about? The Gadget Chair! Staying true to its name, this chair has all that one needs to entertain oneself, without moving a leg, literally. Curious, aren’t you? Read on! Now don’t expect this one to get up and walk around, at least not for now. What it can do is, entertain you, with audio, visually, and make sure your gaming experience is much more than banging your joystick around and cursing your TV screen every time your character falls of a ledge. Anyways, the Gadget Chair incorporates heating elements, miniature cooling fans, adjustable lumbar support and a back massage feature. Besides that, it features a Mac/PC system that also works as the control center. The chair also features a 16:9 OLED screen and ambient LEDs underneath, illuminated speakers and a large sub-woofer and also motion technology.
Bringing home the sun with the sun tunnel
Now here’s a way to literally bring the sun into your room and brighten up your life. The sun tunnel by Ross Lovegrove is a unique and innovative idea. Basically a solar tube or a sun tunnel as we choose to call it, the system enables channeling sunlight into dark spaces to lighten them up, without the use of electricity. Also, these are easier to install as compared to skylights and are leak proof too, just incase the sun doesn’t show up and the clouds do. The design was sketched and put into being for Italian manufacturer Velux and also uses a hanging, blob-like reflector that helps bounce back light against the ceiling increasing the illuminating effect. Karim Mektigian’s White Desert Coffee Table is a beauty
Experimenting with the design of a regular coffee table is designer Karim Mektigian who has designed the White Desert Coffee Table. Karim has designed the table for Hid'n. Unlike a normal coffee table whose surface is flat, you will notice a small dip in the middle of Karim’s table. This unique “pot hole” in the middle of the table allows you to experiment with your décor and adorn your coffee table with unique items like fruits and other decorative pieces. Personally I would love to fill this bowl-shaped formation with my favorite treats so I can nibble on them during the many coffee table conversations I share with my girl friends. Wooden outdoor furniture by Mirko Mielke
In my search for some simple outdoor furniture pieces, I came across a series of wooden outdoor pieces by German designer Mirko Mielke. The designer’s collection of outdoor furniture piece comprises of wooden benches and chairs. Besides offering comfort, the designer’s main aim while creating these furniture pieces was to increase social interaction among people. And what better way to indulge in some pleasantries and encourage dialogue than with the unique double seater chair that has been smartly dubbed as the Le confident by the designer. Another favorite piece of mine in the outdoor furniture pieces collection is the La Causeuse, a conversation chair that is sure to help you interact with others.
