Clothesline Clip has just got a makeover!

clip.jpg Upgradation in the basic daily use products are always welcome, but more often than not there is not much scope of working around the functionality. The least a designer can do is work around the design a bit. And this is what designer Paul Sandip has done to the simple clothesline clip. By playing around the concept of perception this single piece injection molded component is made of recycled plastic. The design is elevated by making it possible to be used by both the sides. This daily life utility product is truly a simple and useful innovation.

‘Guardian’ is an easy-to-use fire extinguisher

fire-extinguisher.jpg Every home has a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. But how many of us actually know the right way of using it? I’m sure the complicated instructions make it a tad difficult to use it by the common man. The ‘Guardian’ is a solution to that problem. With its easy to use functionality, it definitely is the users product. With a 3V battery that can be recharged with the solar panel on the surface, the new age fire extinguisher lights the LED bulb that it consists. The usage part of the fire extinguisher is quite simple where all the user has to do is point the nozzle at the fire base and press the handle forward to discharge the extinguishing agent. Replacing the aerosol can is as simply as using it. All one needs to do is simply slide in the new aerosol.

Another Bathroom concept by Felipe Ribon

Another_Bathroom_concept.jpg When it comes to bathroom fittings, hygiene is my top most priority. That is why I have loved the Another Bathroom design concept by Felipe Ribon. The unique Another Bathroom concept features a series of textile basins and a line of variable flow faucets. The fabric stretched over a metal structure and a water column is placed in the centre. The smooth curve created by the tightened fabric creates a washing receptacle. In this unique receptacle, water flows easily and there is no place for dirt to accumulate. What is more, integrated with nano-technology, these fabrics are both waterproof and bacteria free. What is more, the fabrics can be removed and washed in a washing machine as well! Thus, increasing hygiene and cleanliness.

A kettle that can pour without having to lift it

Rotary-Kettle.jpg No matter what innovations we come up with in simplest of everyday appliances and devices in life, we more often than not tend to ignore those who may not be able to use the product like the majority of the rest. The Rotary Kettle attempts to make an innovation with the functionality of the product. Basically catering to the people with impaired hand strength and control, all you need to do is rotate the kettle’s body to pour boiling hot water. The user only needs to grip the handle, and rotate the kettle in its base, to pour a cup of tea, whereas in all other existing tea kettle designs, much more effort is required from the user; where they have to bear the kettles' weight when pouring. With its revolutionary user-centric design, the 1.2 liter stainless steel, this product definitely caters to a diverse audience.

Smart storage of water dispenser

water barrel.jpg Nowadays everyone uses water from the water dispenser. After the after form it is used up, it has to be returned to the water company for refilling purposes. The space that many of these dispensers occupy while transportation is too much. ‘Compressed Water bucket’ is one such dispenser that can be gently compressed for smarter storage. ‘Forget-Me-not’ convenient umbrella

umbrella.jpg Imagine a rainy afternoon when you’re rushing past to reach the coffee shop to catch up with your friends, and you’ll chat and chat and then get up and leave when it’s evening. Everything goes well, except for the fact that you left your wet umbrella in the coffee shop itself. Now take a flashback into your life and think about all the pretty umbrellas you have ever left back at such common places. Now, this will not be a problem anymore, because with the ‘dangling umbrella’, you can conveniently dangle the umbrella to the edge of the table or a bar. The handle slides apart so that the cap can be slipped over the edge of a table or bar. When the cap is opened, it lights up with the words “Don’t forget.” Silicon on the underside of the cap helps it grip the surface. I think this is a very handy and useful thing, and I guess all umbrellas should have this mechanism too! [red-dot]

Rambler Socket for your wall

Recoiling_Socket.jpg You can now move your vacuum cleaner around the house without the fear of having it unplugged with the newly designed Rambler Socket. As the name suggests, you can actually ramble around with the socket tailing behind you. Extension cords seem out of place and out dated when compared to this new design. This 1.5 meter cord is rolled up and slipped into a hole in the wall behind a socket. When needed, all you need to do is pull the cord out and connect your appliance instead of using an extension. When you’ve finished using it, just give the cord a slight tug. This activates a spring mechanism that helps wind the cord back into the wall. Designed by Meysam Movahedi, the Rambler Socket is idle for use at home for movable appliances. Though skeptics reckon that over heating of the cord may cause short circuits and fires, with a proper insulation in place, this new innovation will surely help do-away with the extension cord.

Count your trash with ‘Share Trash Can’

trash can.jpg It’s amazing sometimes how people come up with these really interesting ideas. That’s one reason why I love writing about concepts, because even if these aren’t practical, they tell you how creative a person can get even if the product is a trash can. Burak Kaynak from Turkey puts on a LED screen on this simple trash can that shows the count of how many times the can has been pedaled on. Simple and interesting, the concept will allow you to know how often people use the can to dump trash.
