Remember those good old days in our childhood when we’d sit for hours popping those bubbles on a Bubble Wrap every time a packaging was opened? Well, the little joy of bubble popping is now a form of interior design. Bathrooms covered in bubble wrap have been unheard of before, until now, with this development by PROJECTiONE, the team compromising Elizabeth Boone, Adam Buente, Eric Brockmeyer, and Kyle Perr of Ball State’s architectural program.
Known as BitMAP, this new bathroom tiling system uses sheets of Bubble Wrap with some of the bubbles popped to create patterns. The Bubble Wrap is covered with vacuum-foamed Styrofoam, with the finished tiles created in plastic using a particle board for strength. The tiles interlock with openings for light fixtures and other holders and racks used in bathrooms. They also integrate switches to operate the lights and fans. The BitMAP takes interior designing to a whole new level, with Bubble Wrap.
