Now, lacking a kitchen in your tightly packed home doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t cook up a smoking hot meal! With Elizabeth Reuter’s design for Electrolux, cooking in tight and petite places now gets easier. Called the Mobile Kitchen Kit, this apparatus is a full-fledged kitchen shrunken down and comes with a cutting board, a cooking top and space to store your spoons, knives and spatula. An entry for the Electrolux Design Lab 2011 Competition, this concept design could work as a portable kitchen too, with a suitable power source at hand.

Edge Bike makes parking easy; folds in half!

With urban spaces getting more crowded by the day, parking spaces are quickly turning into a luxury of sorts. This foldable bicycle however, changes things. Easy-to-park, portable and seriously efficient, the Edge Bike concept is one of the most eco-friendly ways to get around. And the best part of it all is the fact that it folds in half, reducing parking space by half! By designer Gabriel Lee, the Edge Bike works as just about any other bicycle when unfolded and deployed, and lets you travel around, without the need of a gas-guzzling contraption on four wheels.

LED-packed snowboarding suit glows down ski slopes

Looking for the perfect way to snowboard out in the dark? Well, here’s a great way to hit the slopes once daylights out, and save you from crashing into oncoming vehicles, given that you wind up on a nearby road. By designer and filmmaker Jacob Sutton, this LED-packed snowboarding suit was presented to subject William Hughes for a ride down a slope in Tignes in France’s Rhône-Alpes. The film was shot over three nights, using light from just the suit! Also, we’re pretty sure passersby mistook Hughes and his glowing suit to be a ghostly snowboarder who’d met an ill-fated end, decades ago.

This splendid trailer concept design by designer Jakub Novák, a Czech student hailing from Brno University of Technology, is as futuristic as it gets. In the future, the world’s population is bound to increase. This in turn means more cars, crowded streets and tons of traffic jams. So, designers these days are looking for ways to travel above the conventional modes of transport, and take to the skies instead! At first, this new flying concept vehicle by Anoop M seemed to us like a helicopter lacking the rotor blades above. Sporting a tail that doubles up as a propeller when in flight-mode and a unicycle-style wheel while landing, this flying concept-vehicle has a carefully chiseled body keeping aerodynamics in mind, and can seat two.

Futuristic electric bike ZecOO reeks aggression

A bike good enough to make Batman go green with envy, this futuristic beast on two wheels was designed former Toyota designer Kota Nezu. Called the ZecOO, this mean machine is destined to be the predecessor of electric bikes of the future. built for design firm Znug, the ZecOO took just 6 months to conceptualize and build. Also, this electric bike stays away from conventional motorcycle designs and uses the rear wheels to steer, with the front using a central hub system. Complete with cantilevered shock absorbers, this machine’s as aggressive as a bike can get and could cost anywhere up to $8 million, a price well paid for the beautiful design and performance it packs.

Universal earphones make L and R sign requirements on earphones obsolete

Unlike most conventional folk, audiophiles tend to check the L and the R on their earphones before sticking them in while listening to music. Now, Japanese scientists have come up with a technology that pretty much wipes out the need for you to check up on those eye-straining L and R signs on earphones. Instead, the new system automatically detects if the earphones have been placed in the wrong ear, and quickly change channels, adjusting them to blare out music in the correct ear! Called Universal earphones, this one’s in its development stages for now, and could be a welcome change to audiophiles and casual music listeners alike.
