Prisons are always a nightmare. It’s as though anyone anywhere in this world have to live in filthy, claustrophobic and dark. Designer Van der Sluis felt that this had to change with his new dome for prison. It is supposedly ideal for inmates who play sports. But it is the best for inmates to feel that they are not hidden underground and give the chance for them to see beyond the walls and torn down ceilings.
The dome has holes along its side which gradually grow larger and larger allowing more natural sunlight in and the sides of the building allow prisoners to see the horizon. The structure, which consists of 15 triangles, is quite easy to construct as well as dismantle. They might be evil people, but they are also humans right? Nice thought.
