Libraries are very rare these days. Since everything is online and even eBooks have replaced the nostalgic feeling of flipping through the pages. BIG Architects has unveiled a design for a new library to be built in Astana, Kazakhstan. It will feature a twisting infinite loop designed to maximize natural lighting for the library and shading for the interior corridor. It will be called the Nursultan Nazarbayev Library which will also be a major cultural center for Astana. The basis for the design is the Möbius strip, so that the library’s exterior walls form a single, never-ending loop, exposing the interior to more sunlight than in structures with windows perpendicular to the ground. This design will allow people going in to read with enhanced natural light for reading. Interesting.
