Italy’s famed designed house Bertone has made its swift comeback this year at the Geneva 2010, just in time to commemorate Alfa Romeo’s 100th anniversary with a new sports car concept. Bertone’s Pandion concept is conceived after a species of raptors, more commonly referred to as a sea hawk. It is based on the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizone and uses the same high revving 450HP 4.7 liter V8 engine. The car measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,971 mm in width, 1230 mm in height and rides on a 2,850 mm long wheel base.
The most impressive feature of the Pandion are its doors that open in an unusual manner, a little more exaggerated than the familiar full-wings, as they strut 90 degrees above the centre of the rear wheel. Bertone claims that, in an event that results in a roll over, the doors automatically detaches from the body so that the passengers can safely exit the car.
