The Jetson folding guitar by Daniel Mapp

Jetson.jpgYou don’t have to worry about carrying a bulging guitar case around for gigs anymore. Not when you’ve got a guitar that folds up and is easy to move around with! Daniel Mapp came up with the Jetson guitar, an innovative way to making the electric guitar a lot more portable. For him, the normal 24 frets were a bit too tedious to carry around as it is. So, he simply cut the neck in half, enabling it to fold in neatly. Also, the fret board of this one isn’t woody, opting for aluminum instead. Now we really haven’t heard what it sounds like, so we aren’t sure what the change in building materials has actually done to this one. Using a 10mm (0.39-inch) thick single piece of chrome-polished aluminum welded to a 15mm (0.59-inch) thick headstock, this one abandons the real use of the tress rod that in normal guitars, keeps the fret board from bending due to string pressure.
