Creations like the
Vinyl Workout, are a treat for music lovers everywhere. Here is another unique musical interface creation by Matthijs Munnik, Ben Terwel and Charlotte‘t Hart from the ArtSciencedepartment at the Royal Academy of Art and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, The Netherlands that is sure to appeal to every music buff. Dubbed, the Get in Touch, this creation comprises of a big white cylinder shape, with human backs coming out of openings in the fabric. The unique project was made in the context of the Tactile Research Lab, taught by wearables artist Cocky Eek, where students worked with lightweight and inflatable structures, looking for ways to merge the digital and physical worlds in urban surroundings and nature. Visitors are invited to touch the backs to create sounds. Using the human body in the design of this installation has truly redefined the realms of human body art. When two or more backs are touched, a connection is made and one can start playing. To change the sound you apply more pressure. Different sounds can be created by touching various combinations of backs.
