Heart Monitoring Vest Project is great

Heart_Monitoring_Vest.jpg We have come across many unique designs and products created solely to aid medical patients. The heart monitoring vest project is one such endeavor by George Brown College's Fashion Techniques and Design program and Canadian company Ocorant Inc. The two have teamed up on a multidisciplinary project to create a wearable medical device. The Canadian company has developed a new type of heart monitoring system and it is the goal of the George Brown to design a vest to house the electronics of this new device. The team has designed various prototype models of the vest. Angella Mackey, a research assistant on the project, has particularly worked on the interaction design of the vest so that a patient will be able to wear the vest at home and be able to place the six electrodes on their chest without the help of a nurse.

A Jolly Good Belly Cabinet

belly-cabinet.jpg It is not often that we come across a piece of furniture glorifying the humble belly. Dutch designer Laurens Van Wieringen has done just that. He has gone ahead to create a hanging chest of drawers shaped like an extrovert belly. The chest of drawers consists of five layers from which drawers were cut, pushed back and forward giving it its unique shape. The bright red color that he has chosen seems just appropriate to liven up the room and the uneven style of drawers creates an aura of mystery around the cabinet.

Eco Faucet Timers intended to save water

Eco-Faucet-Timers.jpg We have appreciated and endorsed most water faucets that are designed with the intention of saving water. But I’m not particularly a big fan of the Turn Rotary Dial Faucet designed by Eun Ji Byeon featured here. The reasons are as follows- It is equipped with a timing system that allows you to set the approximated time for completing your task by turning the dial. The downfall of the system is the timing of the faucet. If 30 seconds are set for washing the hands and you spend a 15 on squeezing the hand-wash out of its bottle, you’re practically wasting water here. But this type of a faucet could be pleasing to those who are way too annoyed with the sensor-based faucets fitted in public washrooms. Well, as for me, I’m better off with those.
