glass wall.jpg

‘Don’t throw stones at others if your own house is made of glass’ is now quite an old saying. But it literally applies here where the house is made of a glass wall. Alexander Frangoul from Germany has designed this unique home which consists of a 19 m long folding glass. And I still don’t know if it is anti-breakable or not!

Barbwired by Ewelina Aleksandrowicz

Barbwired.jpg Barbwired is a unique concept by artist Ewelina Aleksandrowicz. The Barbwired is a concept sound performance piece that uses the "energy" exchange between two individuals to create a unique, dynamic aural experience. The concept consists of two wearable hi-tech garments stitched with FSRs (force sensitive resistors) and patches of conductive thread. The garments function as wearable instruments. On physical contact between the two individuals the energy created is converted into sound vibrations. The couple needs to be in physical contact touching the conductive thread patches on their partner's garment. Sounds are controlled and transformed by squeezing the partner's arms, depressing the sensors while the FSR’s manipulate the effects of the sound. The intensity of the sound will vary according to how tightly or loosely you squeeze the partner’s arms.

Get rid of tangled wires with Sport-Zip Earbud design

Sport-Zip-Earbud.jpg If wireless audiophiles are a little too advanced for you, then sticking to the regular, wired earbuds is not a bad idea, especially if the design is as cool as the zip-up headphones, where the two individual strands of wire become one with the singular zipper action. The design is devised by designer Ji Woong to combat the problem of tangled earphone wires, eventually leading to broken audio connections. The portable earphones have their volume controls on the zip-action piece, so you can adjust your audio settings then lock them in place while jogging, biking or otherwise on the go. I hope they come up with a slick slack version, and then it could well be counted as a sports accessory.

‘Guardian’ is an easy-to-use fire extinguisher

fire-extinguisher.jpg Every home has a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. But how many of us actually know the right way of using it? I’m sure the complicated instructions make it a tad difficult to use it by the common man. The ‘Guardian’ is a solution to that problem. With its easy to use functionality, it definitely is the users product. With a 3V battery that can be recharged with the solar panel on the surface, the new age fire extinguisher lights the LED bulb that it consists. The usage part of the fire extinguisher is quite simple where all the user has to do is point the nozzle at the fire base and press the handle forward to discharge the extinguishing agent. Replacing the aerosol can is as simply as using it. All one needs to do is simply slide in the new aerosol.

The Dial phone

dial.jpg What’s in ad out? A age old fashion accessory that has been revamped to suit the current times and need. With the phones, be it the landline phones or mobile phones, getting smaller by the day, every phone is a clone of the other, looks like. But Jung Dae Hoon’s design concept breaks all odds, redefines convention, takes inspiration from the traditional dial phones. The dial phone is supposed to be worn around the wrist like a bangle. The phone can be operated by simply turning the dial. When the phone is in use, the project light beams guide by indicating different characters. The upper part of the dial responds to the user’s touch, and pressing the notch related to a particular number facilitates dialing. This design is truly a blast from the past but with a touch of modernity.
