Spectacular floating city designed for Boston Harbor

Spectacular_floating_city.jpg Arcologies were originally supposed to be hypothetical structures, but architect E. Kevin Schopfer has aspired to make it a real one soon enough. He has envisioned a floating city-within a city right in the centre of Boston Harbor. Named Boa, (abbreviation for Boston Arcology), this enormous structure could be a domicile to 15000 people. It’s a big civilization within, complete with hotels, offices, retail space, museums and even a City hall. This massive structure could take upto 10 years to built after the completion of which residents can walk on moving sidewalks, or take elevators or escalators to any desired location inside. Kudos to him for thinking so ‘big’

Artime watch concept is an ultimate mechanical wonder

artime_watch.jpg In our present time where technological inventions are taking big leaps, we need to formulate a different approach for simple devices like watches for viewing time. The Designby 8 studio has impressed us with their new concept Artime that tells time according to the wearer’s body rhythm. The watch face is an ingenious composition of a grid that pulses and moves in beat to the user’s rhythm. The watch tells the time by moving the grid around to reveal the time as a digital reading. The time is covered up again by the reshuffling of the grid.

The Colored Suitcase

Colored_Suitcase.jpg Marcial Ahsayane has designed The Colored Suitcase with an integrated whiteboard to keep your children busy during journeys. This suitcase has gone ahead to win the reddot design award for 2009. Traveling inevitably involves time when children tend to get bored when waiting for bus, train or plane. With its inbuilt whiteboard and colorful markers, this suitcase extends to be a colorful companion, especially for children. The whiteboard lies concealed behind a sliding door on one side, which looks stylish and at the same time gives protection from bumps and scratches. Though a bulky proposition, but this innovation encourages parents to bond with their children drawing, coloring and playing with them on long journeys making quality use of their spare time.

Three-legged Nespresso Coffee machine is fun

Coffee_machine.jpg We’ve had quite a few kinky coffee machines posted before. But the Three-legged Nespresso Coffee machine is the craziest looking coffee machine that I have seen. It looks like a spook and its design is too unbelievable for a coffee machine. As of now, we have no information about its functioning, but it’s something that I’d definitely want to have on my kitchen slab!

Police Bike for the ‘down to earth’ police

police-bike1.jpg The Police on cars and bikes sure look smart in their all-black attire and vehicles. But their agility lacks when they are following the super-fast criminals who dissuade the police by going into some skinny lane or remote areas that cannot be reached by petrol vehicles. The Police Bike is an innovative bike concept that can improve the effectiveness of the police force with better visibility and great mobility. Don’t think this bike is a child’s play or too inferior for the police to ride on.

Treasury-Table-1.jpg The Treasury Table by Lucie Koldova is one of the most utilitarian concepts that I have come across in a long time. It is a table with innumerable drawers under the desk positioned to provide a better use of space. This helps to keep your articles organized and keep the desk clutter free. The Treasury Table is composed of varnished wood and has a translucent matt surfaced glass desk which makes the contents in the desk see-through and saves your time in finding them.
