Modern tree house with garden at each level

Urban-Forest_1_urban-forest.jpg We have so many skyscrapers and high rises that I’m tired seeing them now. Vertical expansion is the only solution in today’s space crunched world, so much so that I crave to live in a tree house in a forest and experience nature up, close and personal. MAD has completed the concept design of a 385 meter high metropolitan cultural complex in the city center of Chongqing – The Urban Forest. They propose this new architectural concept to actualize a sustainable multidimensional highrise where nature blends into architecture. [Dezeen]

Interestingly conceptualized bed for kids’ bedroom

dinosaur-bed.jpg Home Improvement and space designing can showcase even a common mans hidden talent very well. You are what your house or room looks like. With the concept of false ceiling, textured walls, wooden flooring, almost everyone can don the hat of a interior designer and decorate their room or home with ideas of their choice. Doing that is the simplest since all you have to do is think of what you like and then look for ways to execute the idea into a reality. But here is one bedroom, rather a bed that has been the most innovative bed I have ever seen. A fairytale, princess land, swan lake and Disney themes are very common now. But what is uncommon is this Jurassic themed bed that transforms the cozy bed into dangerously cute looking soft jaws of the dinosaur. I have fallen in love with this, and the lower jaw is hinged to a container that can store your kids toys and other things safely. So now you wont have to count sheep to try and get sleep, but think of ways to fight the dinosaur while you lie comfortable in its jaw all night!

Gaming Phone Design by Thomas Broadbent

Gaming_concept_phone_1.jpg Thomas Broadbent has conceptualized a new design for a gaming phone. This gaming phone has combined features of a portable console and a regular handset. Just use its swivel opening mechanism to turn the phone into a gaming controller. The concept further allows the players to see who out of the opponents is winning with the indicator on the back of the phone. There’s a microSD card slot for extra memory and storage space for games downloaded from the internet. It also features a 3.2 megapixel camera, a USB charger/ connection port and a full color screen. The compact gaming phone concept with its bountiful features appeals to me.

Teapot that pours itself by a simple touch

Teapot.jpg A simple touch, teapot gets inclined and tea is served. A smooth, roly-poly teapot with a slender spout and a metal stand, such a teapot is made possible by Joaquim Bastos a student in the final year of the Industrial Design Degree from Lisboa, Portugal. A cute teapot, I wouldn’t mind having one for my table.

Porsche Cayenne V8 concept car will reduce CO2 emissions and boast fuel efficiency

Porsche_Cayenne_concept.jpg What do you get if you tweak a Porsche Cayenne V8 to reduce its CO2 emissions? The Schaeffler Group ended up with a Porsche Cayenne V8 that boasts 10.1% better fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions of the same amount. Christened as the CO2ncept-10%, this vehicle has its engine modified with its hydraulic cam phasers replaced with electromagnetic units. A minimized friction in the chain drive, use of electromechanical roll stabilizers and other customizations has helped reduce its CO2 emissions. Famed for being bulky and hefty, SUV’s are known to drink those extra liters of fuel and give out an equally large amount. The Schaeffler Group however, was able to reduce the cars emission levels and increase its fuel efficiency without stripping it of its bulk or replacing the engine. This is undeniably remarkable and can be a stepping stone to the manufacturing of cleaner vehicles in future.

Indoor planter by H2O Architects

grassmirror-11.jpg Poets and Philosophers have always been inspired by nature. Little wonder then that their writings have always reflected their mood and thoughts. A mirror is a prime symbol of something that gives you a reflection of what you really are. H2O Architects have thought of this very innovative planter that can double up as a mirror too. Beautifully interconnected, the grass grows and looks as fresh as grass growing on earth. The planter is interestingly designed in a zig zag manner which seems to beautifully blend in nature and culture.

Hussar Dakar Rally has wings that make it look powerful

racng car.jpg Now this is some vehicle made to rule to rule all terrains. Hussar Dakar Rally has been designed to fight all odds, survive extreme road conditions-sand, dunes, grass, rocks! Its cockpit provides the driver with a 180 degree view while the navigator and the engineer sit slightly below thus providing any technical assistance that the racer would require during a race. Just like the KERS system introduced to F1, there hussar inspired wings go on creating kinetic energy while the vehicle moves. This gives the driver an advantage in a race by giving the vehicle lots of air breaking power when all wings are rotated in and upright. Apart from the functionality of the vehicle, the wings give it that scary and dangerous dragon fly look it needs to mar its competitors.

Green light by BYTR

lamp1.jpg A green and clean neighborhood is always favored and appreciated. One of the greenest and most beautiful cities in Netherlands, Eindhoven has taken a step forward in taking its residents closer to nature. Suspended foliage in public spaces in an effort to turn the city greener and more eco-friendly is indeed an applauded idea put to use in the form of Green spotlights. These lamps suspended above the streets of the city are surrounded with foliage on the outside. On growing, this foliage will create a spectacular natural shade to the lamp in the center. These lamps when lit up create a natural green aura around them and on the street below. So, the next time you walk the streets of Eindhoven make sure you look above you and lose yourself in the natural magnificence of these lamps.

Austrian engineer Markus Voglreiter his home to look like the car

beetle_house.jpg I love the VW Beetle. Never mind that it was designed by a tyrant it’s my dream to own one someday, somehow. But do you ever notice, no matter how much you may be a fan of something, there’s always someone out there who makes you seem like you’re just an average follower? Well as big a fan as I may be with my posters and models and T-shirts etc., Austrian engineer Markus Voglreiter took is fan-ism to a whole other level and designed his home to look like the car. Awesome! The house has two separate areas designed to suite the adults and the children. A barbecue pit is located at the rear so where the exhaust pipe would be and the headlights are actually the bedroom windows. All that’s left is to make it mobile. Sorry, that was spiteful but I’m jealous.
