Stay fit with Storage Fitness

Storage_Fitness.jpg Staying fit is important, but sometimes we are short on space. So why not combine fitness and storage? That's just what this clever Storage Fitness concept does. I'm impressed with how smart the idea is. It doesn't get any better than bringing together storage and furniture that also functions as fitness equipment. I think it's perfect for students and people living in tiny spaces, but who don't want to compromise on staying fit and healthy.

A cottage that is made of aluminum!

cottage.jpg Cottages, I always thought had to be made of wood. Even in books, as a kid I’d read about people living in small but warm cottages would often generate a feeling in me also to live in a cottage. But this particular cottage in Japan has been made of aluminum! Though, this two-storied building looks strong and metallic from the outside, there is enough wood work on the inside and so the typical cottage feel has still been maintained. To me on the outside it looks very intimidating and I wouldn’t want to enter, but on the inside the home looks quite warm and friendly.

Optimize your water and soap usage with ‘Miscea’

miscea.jpg Today, when we see people just wasting away water by keeping the tap open even when not required, or forgetting to turn off the faucet completely after use leading to constant water leaks, and also the high possibility if germ transfer by using a common soap bar, it was high time we came up with a all-in-one faucet that catered to every need regarding hand and mouth washing. ‘Miscea’ by Matthis Heller is the answer where a unique one spout faucet has been designed that can supply warm water, cold water, soap and can disinfect your hands. Infact by moving you hand on the plus and minus signs you can manipulate the waters temperature as well. Now there isn’t any need to have two separate spouts for hot and cold water. This even looks so trendy and classy, I want to have it right now in ym bathroom!

Keitai Phone is the phone of the future!

Keitai_Phone.jpg NTT Docomo and Fujitsu have designed a new cell phone concept called ‘Separate Keitai F-04B’. It does look like any other usual cell phone, but has features that can shake the living daylights of you! Well, it has done so with me at least. With dual sims and dual cameras already in vogue, Keitai’s main and the most amazing function is its ability to separate into two pieces, one acting as the keyboard and the other acting as the display. The display is a touch screen. The two parts together make up a slide out keyboard phone. The keyboard is In the QWERTY format, while it has a separate number pad too. The set-up also has an optional projector attachment that allows you use the phone to view movies. I am already in love with this concept and can’t wait for it to become a reality. The only glitch I think might be the fragility of the model.

Tassenkast by Lotty Lindeman

Tassenkast.jpg I love products that have multiple uses. Hence I have fallen in love with Dutch designer Lotty Lindeman’s creation known as Tassenkast. Tassenkast is a collection of suitcases that can be used as a cabinet at home. The cases are made of padded fabric, wrapped around two wooden side panels. At home, these cases can be hung from a wooden bar by using matching fabric straps with fastenings. When hung, these cases will not only offer you ample storage space but also make for beautiful piece of décor. These extremely useful handmade cases are definitely great both while travelling and at home as well.

Cross Stitch can work even on your Table

Table1.jpg Sometimes I really wonder from where and how designers get such innovative ideas from! To seriously think of, the inspiration more often than not is derived from life’s simplest things. Take this ‘Stitched Table’ for example that has been designed by Bill Hilgendorf and Jason Horvath of Uhuru Design. Built around a cut slab of walnut wood that has been split into two, the slab is artistically held together by four X-shaped stitches. These stitches really stand out against the dark color of the walnut wood. The only thing I dislike din this design is the frame that looks a little unmatched with the rest of the design. It makes the design look incomplete to me. Nevertheless, it is quite an interesting piece of furniture to own.

BoxLine defys routine, defines variation!

boxline.jpg A sort of a makeover for the usual table-chair combination, BoxLine is a very modern and a contemporary set of table and 4 chairs that look quite trendy. I wouldn’t recommend this for your home, but it definitely goes well at restaurants, café’s or cafeterias. The set of four chairs when arranged closely together seem like a box, and hence the name, I’m guessing. The chairs look quite comfortable to me with the round shape for the back support. The table is also quite cool and contemporary considering the youth will be attracted to such designs more. Overall, not really something new, but a sweet and nice concept idea which can be applied in practical scenario very well.

Pureray uses UV rays to sterilize baby bottle

baby1.jpg When there is a baby in your home, aren’t all that you are worried about got to do with the baby? Cleanliness, hygiene, anti-germs, disinfection are at the top of your minds priority during such days, aren’t they? True, that baby’s are easily prone to catch germs and infections from the things and places around them. And so such things should always be disinfected and kept clean. One such way of ensuring that the baby bottle is made germ-free is the Pureray concept designed by Hwa-yong Shin & Hannah Kim. This baby bottle gets sterilized on its own using the ultraviolet rays that is in-built in the bottle. The concept bottle features an ultraviolet lamp on the base and an amplification pipe up the middle of the bottle. The battery-powered cap of the bottle is screwed on to the base of the bottle where it transmits infrared rays through the amplification pipe. The nipple end of the bottle is unscrewed and then inserted into the bottle for disinfection purposes. The inside of the bottle and the nipple is then disinfected using ultraviolet rays. Isn’t it an amazing concept? The only thing I am personally worried about is how safe is exposing UV rays to common household items and especially toddlers with low resistance.
