Alfredo Luiz has used his design skills to give beauty and style to an ordinary water dispenser. His creation, the Chaac water dispenser is so beautiful that it is also been selected as one of the finalists for the Whirpool Mexico Design Award. The Chaac is an ecological water dispenser that derives its design inspiration from the Mayas God and Mexican society. A beautiful piece, it impresses with its sleek curves and simple design. 
Lovers of ‘slim technology’ will surely fall in love with the new concept ultra-flat speakers from Frauhofer. Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT in Ilmenau, Germany, together with Sennheiser have developed the ultra flat loudspeaker that measures only 24mm thick (0.94-inch)! These loudspeakers measuring less than an inch in thickness were presented at the IFA. According to the developers, these speakers offer optimum performance and great sound quality. “Even if these flat panel loudspeakers are placed directly on the wall or integrated into media equipment or furniture, they can reproduce a frequency range from 100Hz-20kHz,” says Dr Sandra Brix from IDMT. Furthermore, the ultra-flat loudspeakers are ideally suitable for multichannel systems and the IOSONO audio system. 
Bergmoench could turn out to be a very convenient bike for mountain climbers as it can be folded into a backpack. The bike is compact, light weight and is designed without pedals as the user can roll down the hill depending on the hill slope. However, the bike has footrest and brakes for control. Bergmoench is designed by Koga, who has used the backpack as the seat and the backpack even has space for other things like a helmet and food.

Media Laboratory is specially designed for urban areas in congested Asian cities to avoid road congestion, excessive consumption of space for parking, traffic noise, air pollution etc. It is a light weight electric motor scooter is foldable and inexpensive. This green, silent, and compact electric scooter can be placed throughout cities for rental, much like the bicycle rental system in some European cities. The MIT students were inspired by origami to create this design and hence would like to call the vehicle “the cuter scooter.”

Indian Architecture Kamat & Rozario have come with a unique set of concrete bookshelves which is also an inexpensive divider that can separate one room in two distinctive spaces. So you longer need to divide your room with those boring dividers but can use these innovative bookshelves that are fastened together with bolts and brackets, with a board placed on each of the brackets to form the shelves. 
Abandoned buildings and stalled projects in Boston are all set to be revived. The Boston Globe has asked architects to take a look at the sites and envision completely new projects that use the existing structure to improve the city. Höweler + Yoon Architecture and Squared Design Lab have teamed up to breathe new life into stalled Filene Development at Downtown Crossing. The architects have envisioned “Eco Pods,” a prefab; bio-fuel producing building that can adapt, change and grow over time. A futuristic design, the architects’ vision for the building includes robotic arms that will be attached to the building would move the pods around to optimize growing conditions. Voids are created when the pods are reconfigured, leaving behind space for public parks or botanical gardens. Bio-Fuels generated in the pods would power these robotic arms.

A futuristic concept, it incorporates a 3D screen that displays stereoscopic images of a music visualizer and stocked photos when your iPhone is docked. The unique design definitely opens up new vistas and horizons. A concept design by Mac Funazimu, it will surely appeal to all gadget freaks. iPhone users would definitely be pleased to see this concept turn into a reality. The cylindrical shape and transparent body of this concept dock are definitely a class apart. 
Yachts are a class apart when it comes to luxury living. The French, as great as they are with their chocolates and perfumery, are also speckles when it comes to luxury branding. WHY Wally-Hermès Yachts is a new company created by Hermès and Monaco-based yacht maker Wally. The yacht is an epitome of luxury offering maximum space, durability and cutting-edge technologies. It even features photovoltaic panels on the roof to absorb some solar power and the boat is contained in a triangular hull. The interior of the yacht is fitted out with water resistant buffalo leather. This yacht took a few years in making and has been tested in Sweden in a specialized tank testing facility. The results look fine and welcoming. We can hence wait for its launch. 
We have seen all sorts of funny gadgets and devices made by some smart and some ridiculous man or woman. This particular concept is odd. It’s hard to place this one. It is supposed to be a helmet designed by Jessica Frelinghuysen. It is for people who wish to hear their own voice. It is a paper helmet that you can’t print out and it comes in all sorts of scary shapes. There is a range of decorative Napkin Dispensers available in the market but the one designed by Ning Ning Li is very unique. It is designed with various napkins piled on top of each other and has small opening on the top to pull the napkin.

The ‘Pebble’ washing machine seems to be a very tempting project as it can remove dirty spots from your dress without wasting too much time as well as efforts but the only hitch that it is designed for the year 2022. Even though the waiting period is too long I’m ready to wait for eco smart fabric care appliance. Designed by Ning Ning Li for Whirpool, it is wall-mounted. Its functionalities include steaming, washing, rinsing, treating dirty spots and drying.
Mojito shoe is very different from the regular shoe as it has no foot plate. The design consists of a single piece that wraps around the wearer’s foot. The designer Julian Hakes feels that a high heel shoe does not require a foot plate, as design supports the heel and ball. The product is made of carbon fibre, laminated with rubber on the side that touches the floor and leather on the side next to the skin.

Fun watch. The Bloc is defined as the modern solution to clunky PDAs and old fashioned day planners. It uses colours and vibrations to alert you of scheduled events of the day. It is very funky and futuristic looking. It has a magnetic adjustable clasp to tighten around the wrists and is encased in a multi-colour flexible LED strip. When you have set an appointment, it will show you that there is a meeting instead of just a sound of the alarm. It is like – Time, Appointment (if any) or else the day of the week. It comes in white but the sides have different colored LEDs. Nice design.
