New hollow design for Vertu

vertu.jpg Never been such a huge fan of Vertu. I think it is just a rich man’s accessory – and feel it is as irrelevant a technology as robot chefs. Nonetheless, Norihiko Inouea graduate of product design came up with this new idea for the phone. The keys are aligned on a hollow shelf. It will be like you are carrying a piece of wood scraped from within to make it light and, well, hollow. It doesn’t even look that nice and the technicalities aren’t too clear either. This is a design and since it is just a toy for the rich to carry about and not really use it, I guess any design will have some fans at least.

Soul kite-like surfing board for disabled

Soul_kite.jpg This is Soul, a kite surfing board designed by Israeli designer Etay Amir for paraplegics. He designed it as he felt water sports had a lot of potential for free movement and excitement for physically disabled people. The design uses wind as a power source so the surfer doesn’t have to use much physical strength. This also gives them the chance to follow their dreams of participating in extreme sports. It’s a very noble idea and must definitely be promoted.

Multi-seated sled

Multi-seated_sled.jpg This is sooo much fun! It is a multi-seated sled! Yeah, how cool is that. All I need is some snow now. This is a design from Turkey and is made pretty easily by just adding up a few sleds with plastic seats to make a multi-seater. It has an aluminum body and is easy to carry when you want to go skiing and also stack them up easily in limited space when not in use. It’s brilliant to zoom around in the snow with your friends and laugh out loud when you all topple over the snow. How nice!

Futuristic bike with heritage signs

Retro-futuristic-motorcycle.jpg This motor bike is supposed to be an amalgamation of heritage and futurism and is conceived by the Confederate motor company. It gives the effect of a stationary item which has the effect of seeming as though it is going fast. It strangely looks like the one that was seen in Terminator Salvation. This one looks a little ugly though – as though some sort of a bike skeleton. Wonder if it is actually meant for the roads or just a concept that will never see the light of day. Who knows who knows.

Vase based on the RGB system by Spanish Oscar Diaz

rgb-vases-1.jpg This vase is extremely imaginative and creative. Spanish designer Oscar Diaz has played with colors very attractively to create this new and very contemporary model. It is a set of red, green and blue vases that nest inside each other to appear a specific hue of purple. The colors are based on the RGB system and the vase works as a three dimensional pixel where the colors overlap to create a specific color that appears only once the vases are nested. When the three vases are nested, the light passes through, and mixes the three colors so that the purple becomes evident. A computer is used to calculate the exact amount of color that each vase must have in order to achieve the desired color. Also the color purple is so in these days that it comes as an added feature. Very impressive.

Colourful watch Cyclops by Crispin Jones

Colourful_watch_cyclops.jpg This new watch called Cyclops is a creation from Mr Jones Watches, the line of timepieces by London-based designer Crispin Jones, and it is quite unique. Instead of the conventional clock and watch hands, a series of colourful spheres take its place. Each hour is represented by a different coloured circle and a black hoop gradually passes over each circle to indicate the time. The watch is really colourful and will go with any dress. It’s not known if it is unisex, but by the looks of it, girls may fancy it more and metrosexuals and others. The design is really eye-catching but the steel strap could have been made a little more attractive. It looks like a huge bracelet with M&M holes.
