Cityscope-1.jpg Marco Hemmerling's visual delight charms the pants off Cologne (Germany) residents! An Urban Kaleidoscope, the lighting installation looks gorgeous at night! Dealing with the perception of urban spaces the installation reflects fragmented views on the city and composes a three dimensional image of the surrounding facades.

The Mirror Collection by Li Jianye

Mirror_Collection_1.jpg There is not much details required for this design, but I must confess that I'm a bit stumped by the simplistic though flow that bought out this creation. Cup on cup, mirrored to perfection! Drinking coffee will never be the same!

Freeride backpack challenges all the vertical limits

Freeride_backpack_1.jpg I don't ski, and I don't take great pictures, but that doesn't stop me from getting tempted by this awesome backpack designed by Hans Christian Berge. The Vertical Freeride backpack looks at keeping your photography equipment safe, why you ski the slopes and scout for amazing photo-ops across the vertical limits! The ergonomic design offers comfortable support to the skier's back and not burden him with the weight of the luggage. The bag features two parts, one is the main backpack and the other is the padded compartment for the camera and lens.

Werm, The Rain Gutter Cleaner

Gutter_Cleaner_1.jpg It's a man's job and it's a dirty one…cleaning the rain gutter. Unless you're Greg Focker (Ben Stiller, Meet The Parents) who believes in setting the drain on fire, the Werm should be the option you take. Designed by Rob Luna, the device uses sensor technology to determine its positioning in the gutter. The flexible body allows it to navigate the tight corners of the drain. The durable rubber body sustains any damage due to wear and tear. The automatic spring loaded action catapults the system out of the drain once the job is done. It even hosts a reusable, expanding dirt bag that collects all the gooey grub!

Samsung Capella BT Headset

Samsung_Capella_BT_Headset.jpg Premium glossy looking headset, that's what the noise (no pun intended), is all about! Designed to look like a premium jewelry-like pendant this 2009 Innovation Award-winning Capella BT Headset was created with fashion-sensitive female users in mind. The Samsung branding assures of some quality inputs however, being a woman, I really have to contemplate the odd curvature of the earbud, would I really like it that way! Its been designed by Miki Mehandjiysky.

Open up the Pandora's Box

Pandora's_Box_11.jpg You got to hand it down to this new generation that believes in the abundance of compact living. There was a time, when real estate was not at such a high premium and people resided in big, ample homes. Studio apartments and matchbox houses, that's what the current generation has been reduced to. Befitting this ambience is the Pandora's Box by Muhammad Imran. Assembled it together and it will liberate space!

Volkswagen Beetle MP3 Player

volkswagen_beetle_mp3.jpg Bitten by the Love Bug? Yes, Herbie does go bananas here with the adorable Beetle's style MP3 Player. The good deal is that the player can be either portable or docked into the cockpit of the car. Flip it open and you get access to more complex functions, or vision it plain and simple! Did I mention that I love the VW logo on top…an awesome concept! Designed by Imon Deshmukh.

Bunch of sticks maketh the seat

Bunch_of_sticks_1.jpg Inspired by the loosely packed sticks that make the roof of the Tibetan homes of Leh, the Jaws 123 is a hot seat designed by Ashish Chaudhary. The two clasps at the end of the sticks act as stronghold for the seating. Practicality aside, the low lounge grosses high on the looks factor alone.

Tweety and me on a the same bench

bird-bench.jpg Here is a really sweet concept by designer Paul Sandip. We had a great time interviewing him, and this Bird Nest concept is the perfect way to ring in this year for us. The design is basically a bench for you and a bird feed with dwellings. The bench is crafted from durable stainless steel, where as the feed part is from wood and ceramic. Lush green grass below completes the ambience.

Mac Tower offers more media options

Mac_Tower.jpg Apple+Mac+Mac World Expo…great timings, but worth the mention for designer Sait Alanyali! His creation, Mac Tower can easily cash in on the Apple hype that never seems to ebb. Feature wise, this is what the concept includes:

- Quad-Core Processors
- More slots for upgrading (2xPCI Express, 4xRAM, 3xSATA)
- Built-in iPod Dock+Remote
- Built-in Stereo Speakers
- Power supply+Battery (During power failure, if Time Machine is used, it backs-up from the last one, then system hibernates, if Time Machine is not used, it directly hibernates, no works lost!)
- The enclosure pops up with a locking mechanism, which gives access to the components and the rear I/O, the rear cables are tidied up by the enclosure automatically
- All the internal components are vertically placed, one silent 12mm fan is used, better airflow.

Gun Cup 007 encourages peace over a cup of tea

Gun_Cup_007_1.jpg I would have much preferred coffee, but Tao Ma insists that we resolve our differences over a cup of tea! An oxymoron, Gun Cup 007 propagates peace and harmony with an overbearing design. The gun shaped cup with bullet tea bags hardly reflects serenity, however it drives home the message in these terror-struck times quite effectively.

Bitten by the Bug Light

Bug_Light_1.jpg Creepy crawlies restricted to the jungles or zoos are adorable, but a spider in my den is a freaky idea. Bringing the cuteness factor to Little Miss Muffets' bane is the Bug Light. Bendable legs, a button on the body and light for a head completes the setup, which is very basic. Designer Sebastian Frith attempts to make a charming functional light out of Bugs!

Something fishy about the Detroit MI

Detroit_MI_1.jpg The elements in Detroit can be pretty harsh and resident designer Edward Morgan knows this pretty well. This inspired him to design a train concept that could handle all weather situations comfortably. The fishy business comes in for the fact that he looked at the dolphin for the way it cuts through the water, which will be similar to how the train pushes through the snow during Detroit's harsh winters. With a warm and friendly exterior, the train also exudes a warm glow from within the cabins.

Hodge Hawk Three-Wheeler Concept

hodge-hawk_1.jpg The only thing that makes me weary about bikes is the damage that they can cause to the human life when involved in an accident. No matter how well you may gear up, and it may not be your fault, but fast bikes and crazy roads are a deadly combination. On the flip side the dexterity of the bike and its compact size make them envy on crowded street junctions. Alex Hodge takes the best of bikes and marries it to the safety cocoon of a car to give us the Hodge Hawk Three-Wheeler Concept. It vehicle is powered by a Honda RC51 V-twin 999cc motor that touches 10,000rpm for a 120ps shot at the 19-inch front wheel. Carbon fiber and plastic coating is used to make the body lightweight.
