The Farm by Akihisa Hirata is modeled on the fold concept

the_farm_1.jpg Optimum usage of space is one contention most architects and interior designers have to take into consideration while designing a structure. Likewise, The Farm by Japanese architect Akihisa Hirata is modeled on the folds concept and is influenced by the forms of trees and plants. By adding fold to the structure, the architect is able to create multiple spaces within a confined format. This concept provides ample space for public domains like the foyer, living room and family room. The private domains in the structure include bedrooms and a spa. The design is a part of the Gene 20 Architectural Project.

The Brunch Collection, Quirky yet Restrained

the_brunch_1.jpg I don't know much about sun signs but my friends tell me that Virgos are supposed to be the cleanliness freaks and perfectionists. They are allegedly the neurotic types who need to place coasters under glasses and trim wedge off sandwiches, in short Monicas (FRIENDS) of the society. Similar to this fastidious notion is the Brunch, a series of consumer products that celebrate the mundane. It includes stuff like a precision bread slicer that cuts the perfect, even, uniform slice. The angled toaster pops out the toast directly to the plate, much like a cannon ball shooting out of the cannon.

Scarab Vehicle is the future for urban transport

Scarab_Vehicle_1.jpg Coming up with an ingenious design that blends in the dexterity of a motorcycle and the stability of a car, designer David Gonçalves outshines the lot with the Scarab Vehicle. The aim of this project is to give us a holistic solution for a new system of urban transport, composed of vehicle and infrastructure, in a sustainable way and adaptable to various urban environments. Based on this premise, David developed the Scarab for his MSc Thesis research report. The vehicle is designed like an enclosed space that can be maneuvered like a motorcycle but furnished you with the usual binding of a car, namely the coupe and luggage boot. Apparently the car can be operated in several different positions depending on the speed. The space crunch issue is tackled with the option of vertically parking the vehicle. To balance itself out, while the vehicle touches great speed, it can tilt (like a bike) when curving or changing direction.

Cuppa- the social laptop device is a one-stop solution for all digital functions at home

cuppa-the_social_laptop_1.jpg The Cuppa is the brainchild of Ben Arrent, who conceptualized this powerful device as a solution for social networking and controlling household gadgets via one system. The Cuppa sports a very slim form that belies its dominant functions. It features a wireless keyboard and monitor and uses WiFi to create a remote access to a local Cuppa Server, which acts as a cache server for online data source, where all of Cuppa's info is stored. It also sports a RFID reader whose range is both short and long. The ambient and detailed display allows interfacing with multiple monitors. The functions keys have been assigned names so that they are much more useful. Cuppa is touted as the bridge between desktop and mobile phone and is designed to be used in the home, but will fit perfectly in an office environment as well. The Cuppa Sensor is a sticker that could be hidden on any device. Some devices may require an extra connector to help stream that data from it.

Quirky KissPhone allows you to send passion across the wires

kissphone-1.jpg The intensity of passion for a loved one often transcends into the only expression that we humans know best; a kiss. A peck on the cheek, a brush of lips on the hand…you know what I mean. I'm sure many of you must have planted a smooch onto the receiver while talking with your lovers, just to display your affection. However the intensity is lost over the cryptic wires that transmit the gesture. Inventor Georges Koussouros has an able solution with the KissPhone that he has designed. The lips on the phone receive your gesture and detect the speed, pressure, temperature, and sucking force of the lips, when you kiss it. The same intensity is replicated on the receiver's KissPhone.

Peugeot EVE is an eco-friendly car that emotes the driver's mood

peugeot_eve_1.jpg Mood reflecting lights are something we have all heard about, but the Peugeot EVE is a concept that imbibes this feature thus reflecting a very swanky persona. Boasting of a very intuitive interface that senses the driver's mood, the car is able to change the color of its panels, reflecting the same. The panels are crafted from a mix of polymers and other materials that react to the flow of the electricity created by the friction of tires. This eco-friendly car uses electricity to power it and the four cells that store the power are located in the tires. The car also harnesses solar energy via the coated windshield and transforms it into kinetic energy.

Formable In-ear Music-Personality Concept for Sony

sony_earphones.jpg There is a theory that suggests that what we hear in the form of music influences our personality. Musical tastes and personality type are closely related for example classical music fans are supposed to be shy, while heavy metal aficionados are allegedly gentle and at ease with themselves. Designer Natasha Carolan has a strong belief in this concept hence it is reflected in the Sony Suguru Formable Earphone. The earphones use a formable silicon resin that can be maneuvered by the user and be shaped to fit their ears perfectly. The biggest advantage of this design is that since the earphones fit into the ears perfectly, they block out all the external sounds, hence you don't need to hear the music at a very loud volume, this in turn protects your ears from potential hearing damage.

By clicking and punching you can shape a unique form and by dragging the virtual design you can turn your creation around and observe it from all sides.
